Stories
On Monday, November 8, 2010 a team of hard working Sears employees helped give Ms. A a new outlook on life. Heroes at Home, sponsored by Sears, is a program that helps low income veterans make necessary repairs to their home.
Ms. A served in Korea and returned in a wheelchair from an accident she had while in service. Rebuilding Together Sacramento, Pioneer West Remodeling, and Sear's volunteers transformed her home. Repairs included installing a roll in shower in the bathroom as well as a new toilet and roll in vanity/sink area. The electrical was upgraded throughout the home. Volunteers painted the exterior of the home and performed yard clean up to beautify the home. New light fixtures were installed throughout the home as well as interior paint. New flooring was laid in the bedroom and a new washer, dryer and stove were installed. Finally, a new customized kitchen with lower countertops and new cabinets were added to the home.
This project was a huge undertaking and we would like to thank Pioneer West Remodeling for donating many long hours to this project. We would also like to thank Sears for the sponsorship and volunteer labor on the day of the event. Ms. A is now able to move around her home with ease and in comfort.
