The Safe at Home Program provides minor repairs and safety modifications.
Modifications include grab bars, toilet raisers, shower stools, stair railings, smoke and fire detectors, shower hoses, transfer poles, transition ramps.
Repairs are assessed on a case by case basis, but can include light, sprinkler and shower door replacements; concrete repair, carpentry issues, fence repair and other minor issues.

Minor modifications create safer, physically supportive homes that result in fewer falls and increased physical independence. Services are free or fee-based, depending on eligibility.
An AARP survey reveals that 85% of older Americans want to remain living in their home. One of the key elements is their ability to move, risk free in the home. Unfortunately, many homes are inaccessible for independent living. As a result, falls are a serious public health issue. As many as 30% of persons aged 65 and older have at least one fall annually. $1.8 millions falls led to an emergency room visit among older Americans resulting in $16.4 billion in direct medical and long-term care costs, in 2000. Falls are the leading cause of death from injuries among older persons.
There is a solution!
Studies show that 50% of all home accidents can be prevented by simple home modifications. The proper safety devices in a home can decrease the physical strain and risk to both the recipient and caregivers.
